Tressavue - AI Hair Try On — Privacy Policy
What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Effective date: 23 September 2026
Tressavue ("the app") lets you preview haircuts and hair colors on a photo. It is free, has no account, no advertising and no analytics SDK. This policy describes exactly what the app and its server process.
What the app collects and why
| Data | When | Why | Where it goes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | The photo you choose (or the bundled sample portrait) | Only after you tap Agree and continue in the consent sheet | To draw the hair preview | Sent over HTTPS to the Tressavue server and our AI image service, Gowalk AI Gateway | | Your chosen haircut and hair color | With each preview request | To describe the requested edit | Tressavue server, Gowalk AI Gateway | | An anonymous install identifier and a signing key created on your device | Created on first preview | To protect the service from abuse and to enforce fair-use limits | The identifier and public key are stored on the server; the private key never leaves your device | | App version, build number and device language | With each request | Compatibility and localized errors | Tressavue server | | Preview reference and your note | Only when you submit a report | To review inappropriate results | Tressavue server |
Camera metadata (location, device, timestamps) is stripped from every photo before upload. See Face data below for how the photo of your face is handled.
Face data
Tressavue draws a haircut on a photo of a person, so the photo you choose normally shows your face. This section covers the collection, use, disclosure, sharing, storage and retention of that face data.
- What we collect. Only the single photo you pick in the system photo picker (or the bundled sample portrait), together with the haircut and hair color you chose. Tressavue does not detect, scan, map or recognize faces. It creates no faceprint, face template, face geometry, landmark set or other biometric identifier, it cannot identify you and it never matches your face against any other image or database. Camera metadata is removed from the photo before it leaves your device.
- How we use it. The photo is used for one purpose: to draw the haircut or hair color you asked for on that photo and return the preview to you. It is never used for advertising, marketing, profiling, identification, or to train any model.
- Who receives it. The photo is sent over HTTPS to the Tressavue server and our AI image service, Gowalk AI Gateway, reached through Tressavue's own endpoint on this domain. Gowalk AI Gateway is part of the server infrastructure we use to produce your preview. The AI request carries only the photo and an instruction naming the chosen cut and color; it carries no install identifier and no other data about you. We never sell your photo or disclose it to data brokers, advertisers or analytics providers. The same purpose limitation, access protection, retention and deletion rules in this policy apply to this AI processing.
- Where we store it. On the Tressavue server only, in our own access-controlled PostgreSQL database on the server behind this domain. Previews you choose to keep are stored only on your device.
- How long we keep it. The uploaded photo and the generated preview are deleted from the server automatically within 24 hours of the preview being produced. Nothing derived from your face is kept after that: the remaining job record holds only the status, the chosen cut and color and quota counters, and it is deleted after 30 days.
- How to delete it sooner. Settings › Delete my data from the server immediately removes every photo, preview and report the server still holds for your device, and resets its anonymous identifier.
What the app does not collect
No name, email, contacts, precise location, advertising identifier, purchase or payment data. The app reads your photo library only through the system photo picker, which gives it the single photo you select. It does not use Firebase or any third-party tracking.
Retention
- Uploaded photos and generated previews are kept on the server for up to 24 hours so the app can download the result, then deleted automatically.
- Reports are kept for 30 days.
- Previews you choose to keep are stored only on your device, encrypted at rest by iOS, until you delete them in the app or uninstall it.
- The anonymous install record is kept until you delete it (see below).
AI processing
Previews are produced by our AI image service, Gowalk AI Gateway, through Tressavue's own domain. It receives your photo and the edit instruction, returns the edited image and does not receive your install identifier. The in-app consent sheet names this service before the first upload. Not now or dismissing the sheet sends no photo. You can withdraw consent in Settings › Allow photo processing; enabling it again shows the disclosure and asks for agreement. Results are inspiration only, not a guarantee of a salon outcome. You can report any preview from the result screen or from a saved look.
Free daily allowance
The app provides eight free previews per anonymous installation each day. After that, new previews are available at the next midnight UTC. There is no payment, subscription, purchase or paid way to extend the allowance. Saved looks remain available while you wait.
Deleting your data
Open Settings › Delete my data from the server. This immediately deletes every photo, preview and report the server still holds for this device and resets its anonymous identifier. Looks saved on your device are unaffected; delete them from the Looks tab or by uninstalling the app.
Children
Tressavue is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Every request is signed with the key created on your device so copied requests are rejected. Server storage is protected by access controls and stored images are removed on the schedule above.
Changes
Updates to this policy are published on this page with a new effective date.
